Civil War Surgeon's Sword of Dr. C. J. Plaisted

M 1850 Foot Officers sword (by Ames) carried by Lt. C. J. Plaisted, 8th Mass. Vol. Militia, whilst on detached duty in the Ambulance Corps, 1862

 

Ames M 1850 Foot Officer's sword inscribed:  "Presented to Lieut. C. J. Plaisted, 8th Regt.  Mass. Vols. by Wm. C. Durham, Nov. 8th, 1862."  Lt. Plaisted's military records indicate that he was assigned detached duty commanding a Brigade of the Ambulance Corps
