Civil War Surgeon's Sword of Dr. Willard

M 1852 Naval sword inscribed to Dr. Robert Willard, by Ames.

 Dr. Willard was a Harvard Medical School graduate and was commissioned Assistant Surgeon in June, 1863.  He served aboard the U.S.S. Catskill with the South Atlantic squadron until May, 1865.

Willard's naval sword hilt with sharkskin covered grip and brass wire wrap.  "U.S.N." is cast into the center of the cross guard.
