A field manual of surgery by well known surgeon and author S. D. Gross, M.D., who taught at Jefferson Medical College.  This compact (4 x 6 x 3/4 in) text book was published during the earliest days of the War.  The covers are embossed with an eagle, shield, and scroll.  Published by Lippincott & Son, 1861.
