HENRY D., New York, born in New York city in 1832, educated AT the New
York univ., from which he graduated A. B. in 1851, and A. M. in 1854,
studied medicine at the coll. of phys. and surg., New York, in 1855, and
also at the New York hosp. from 1855 to 1858, and settled in New York
city, making a specially of diseases of the eye and ear. He is a member
of the New York acad. of med.; county med. soc. ; patholog. and
ophthalmolog. socs.; Medical Library Journal asso. ; Stale med. soc. ;
and of the Am. med. asso. , London. He has been prof, of ophthalmology and otology in Bellevue
hosp. coll. since 1868, and executive surgeon of the New York eye and
ear infirmary.
Dr. Henry Drury Noyes,
one of the most eminent oculists of New York, died at Mount Washington, Mass., on November 12th. He had been in failing health
for some time, and had not returned to the city after the summer vacation. He was born
in New York in 1832, and was graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in
1855. He early devoted
himself to the specialty in which he achieved such marked
distinction. At the time of his death he was surgeon to the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and
was professor of ophthalmology in the University and Bellevue Hospital Medical
College, a position which he had previously held in the Bellevue College for many years before
the consolidation of the two schools. He was also an ex-president of the New York
Ophthalmologic Society.
