Hernstein U.S. Army Hospital Department Trepanning Set

A rare and unusual military trepanning set by H. Hernstein, New York City, N.Y.  This is an earlier, c. 1861 issue, as it is marked with a trade label indicating just H. Hernstein, N.Y. with the 393 Broadway address.  The label also indicates it is U. S. Army Hosp. Dept. issue. Set is marked 'USA'.  There is a sales list on the back of the partition.  The set is 100% complete.  It is key locked, not sliding latches as would be expected for most military field sets, but is again, marked as U.S.Army Hosp. Dept.

H. Hernstein, N.Y., sets are wanted for this collection... complete or partial sets and instruments
