George Tiemann Civil War era ivory surgical set

From the collection of Dr. Paul Johnson

A c. 1861-5 ivory surgical set by George Tiemann for the civilian market.  The address on the label is 63 Chatham St., which is the source of the date for this rare set with ivory handles and blue velvet liner.
