Apple Cinnamon French Toast

bullet

4 tablespoons butter

bullet

4 apples

bullet

1-cup firm packed dark brown sugar

bullet

3 tablespoons dark corn syrup

bullet

1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon

bullet

1 cup chopped pecans

bullet

½ cup golden raisins

bullet

1 loaf French break

bullet

6 eggs

bullet

2 cups milk

bullet

1 ½ teaspoons vanilla

Peel, core, and slice apples.

Melt butter; add apple slices, brown sugar, corn syrup, and cinnamon. Cook and stir until apples are tender. Stir in pecans and raisins.

Pour and spread into 13 x 9 glass baking dish. Place bread on top.

Beat eggs, milk, and vanilla. Pour over bread, slowly. Cover with plastic and refrigerate overnight.

Remove wrap and bake 350 for 35-40 minutes or until firm. Cool 5 minutes in pan. Invert onto platter, apple side up!

NOTE: Got this from a friend and fixed it (with bacon and fresh sliced strawberries) for our 4th of July breakfast because I considered it FESTIVE. Michael considered it "dessert." It is very sweet and would do well at a brunch or family holiday gathering, along with strata!

I did only fix half the recipe for us and just did it in an 8 x 8 Pyrex dish.
