Baklava

3 sticks unsalted butter |

1-pound phyllo dough, follow directions for use |

4 cups ground nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds) |
|
¾ cup sugar |
|
1-tablespoon cumin |
|
¼ teaspoon ground cloves |
Mix butter, nuts, and spices.
In a 17 x 12 pan, spread out phyllo dough one sheet at a time, spraying each lightly with butter. Every 4th sheet, top with above mixture.
Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Cool, cut into diamond shapes, and top with syrup.
Syrup:

1-cup sugar |
|
1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice |
|
4 tablespoons honey |
|
1 stick cinnamon |
|
1-cup water |
Boil ten minutes. Remove cinnamon stick and pour over cut baklava.
NOTE: Someone emailed and asked if I had a recipe for Baklava. I called my aunt and got her recipe. She makes it and it is truly wonderful. I don’t care for things quite this sweet, and by nature this is a VERY sweet dessert. It is a good recipe, though, and she was happy to share!
