Beef Stroganoff
Take round steak and sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder and flour. Cut into strips and brown in the melted butter. Add the can of soup, mushrooms, and as much water as needed to cook until the meat is tender. Before serving, stir in the sour cream. Heat, but do NOT boil after sour cream is added. Serve over rice or noodles. NOTE: This recipe is in the Eustis Service League Cookbook, JUST A DASH OF EUSTIS II and is from a friend. The recipe says to use either sirloin or round steak. I always got round steak and had the man in the meat market put it thru a tenderizer for me. Some people have used hamburger, but I never have done that. It also calls for "optional" ½ cup of minced onion, but I never added that. I have always served it over rice rather than noodles, but that was just my preference. It is easy to make and has a really good flavor. This was a favorite of my children and my daughter still fixes it to this day! |
