Blueberry Sundae

bullet

2 (1 pint) baskets fresh blueberries

bullet

½ cup orange juice

bullet

6 tablespoons sugar

bullet

1 teaspoon orange peel

bullet

1/8-teaspoon cinnamon

bullet

1 bag Pepperidge Farm Chessman cookies, coarsely crumbled

bullet

1-pint vanilla/raspberry yogurt

Combine blueberries, orange juice, sugar, orange peel, and cinnamon in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer about 8 minutes. Take out one cup and put in blender and puree until almost smooth. Return to same saucepan. Keep warm.

Crumble one cookie into each serving dish. Top with yogurt or ice cream and warm blueberry sauce.

NOTE: This recipe is in the August 2002 Bon Appetit. It calls for blackberries, but I used blueberries. It also called for two pints of the berries, which I did use. The rest of the recipe is for HALF the given one, but it truly made quite a bit! And I chose to use the vanilla/raspberry yogurt instead of the vanilla ice cream for which the recipe called.
