Fire and Ice Pickles

bullet

4 (32 ounce jars) whole Vlasic Original Dill pickles, drained, sliced fairly thick

bullet

8 cups sugar (remove 2 cups from a 5 pound bag)

bullet

4 tablespoons Tabasco sauce (2 ounce bottle)

bullet

1-cup water

bullet

1-teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more if desired)

bullet

33-36 whole peeled garlic cloves

Mix all ingredients (except garlic) in a very large bowl. Cover and let stand 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, wash 11-12 pint size jars in dishwasher.

Alternate layers of garlic cloves (3-4 per pint) and pickles, until filled to top of jar. Pack them in there!!!!!

Recipe should make around 6 pints.

Keep refrigerated!

NOTE: My daughter made these pickles for everyone for Christmas this past year. She got the recipe from one of her dearest friends in Mt. Dora. The pickles are truly the best we’ve ever had. They have quite a bite to them and are close to being addictive! Nothing low carb here, but oh, so very good!!!!!!!
