Green Beans with Grape Tomatoes

bullet1 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
bullet3 tablespoons butter
bullet½ pint grape tomatoes, halved
bullet½ tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
bullet1 teaspoon sugar (I used splenda)
bullet½ teaspoon salt
bullet¼ teaspoon black pepper

Cook beans in boiling salted water 8 minutes or until crisp. Drain and plunge into ice water to stop the cooking. Drain and set aside.

Add butter to a skillet over medium heat 6-7 minutes or until it begins to brown. Add beans and sauté until tender. Stir in tomatoes and all seasonings. Stir together and serve.

NOTE: This is in the November 2003 Southern Living and has such a good flavor! I know it the butter and thyme that do it, but all the flavors work so well together! It will go with ANY meal combination, altho when I fixed it, I served it with the pineapple chicken stir fry.
